I like Martris and this was full of him trying his damndest to keep things going. Kiara is trying to work out how to be a proper wife to him and stay alive despite attempts to kill her because of the fact that this will join two realms and assorted other murky politics. Jonmarc Vahanian is trying to come to terms with being the Lord of Dark Haven and the even murkier world of Vampire or Vayash Moru politics and meanwhile the magic is proving a tad unpredictable and Martis is trying to deal with all the ghosts his brother created. Every book makes me like this series more and more and I'm really enjoying Jonmarc, he's well drawn and interesting.
