Michael Pollan decides to build himself a working space on his land. He consults and architect and decides to assist with most of the work, while finding satisfaction in the job he also analyses the task and the different facets, from the architects vision to the reality of the tasks he and his carpenter mate face.
I found it quite interesting, I come from a family of cabinetmakers and carpenters and this all seemed quite familiar, I've heard the diatribes about architects from them and quite understand the frustrations. It's an interesting read, even if he does overexamine things occasionally.
