Not quite to my taste. This is the story of human warfare against an implacable and unknown enemy. A war that has been going on for centuries. It's got echoes of Ender's War, but with more science.
There's a lot of science here and it's almost mindboggling. Although the second book in a series the first one is almost nothing to do with this one. Pirius is a soldier in this fight, young and reckless. He brings back one of the enemy and finds that he's been accused of not obeying orders and is sent to a penal colony. However he's gone back in time to earlier and his younger self is also accused.
Confused? I was sometimes. It's a multi-layered romp of a book that doesn't take long to read. It's just a bit to science heavy for my enjoyment.
