Casting Spells (Thorndike Romance)

Casting Spells - Barbara Bretton Sugar Maple is a small town in Vermont. A small town with a secret, it's inhabited by paranormal creatures and it's one half-human inhabitant is it's mayor, Chloe Hobbs. She doesn't have any magic, the family spell book has gone missing and she's worried, as are the rest of the town as a sudden death seems to suggest that her ancestor's spell that protects the town and it's inhabitants is failing. The death has complications as the person who died was a senator's paramour. This town has never needed police before and Luke MacKenzie is sent in to investigate. Chloe and Luke find themselves very attracted, but will her fallin in love with him put the town at more risk? Chloe also owns Sticks and String a knitting shop, and the details about the knitting and yarn is just so close to reality that it brought a giggle to my lips a few times. Particularly about stash and price of yarn and the sheer effort it takes to block lace, which is in the opening schene of the book. I liked the book, it combined two of my favourite themes, knitting and paranormal with humour. I look forward to reading more in this series!
